Rare Book and Manuscript Curator
Irina Savinetskaya is a rare book curator with a PhD in medieval studies. Having worked with private rare book collectors and antiquarian booksellers, she currently serves as the curator of pre-modern special collection materials at Syracuse University Libraries.Her research interests span cross-cultural encounters through the lens of book history, pre-modern medicine, and the intersection between early modern ideas about nationhood and typography. She has been awarded fellowships by Rare Book School (UVA), Herzog August Bibliothek (Wolfenbüttel, Germany), the Berlin State Library (Germany), and CENDARI (Collaborative European Digital Archive Infrastructure).She is a member of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section of the ALA, the Bibliographical Society of America, and the Grolier Club.
